Custom Fields
Define extra fields for a tournament — and decide who fills each one, and when.
Beyond the standard details (name, weight, belt, club), you can add your own fields to a tournament — a coach's name, a national ID, a competitive aptitude rating, anything you need. For each field you choose how it's collected: asked of the competitor at registration, or filled in behind the scenes by a coach or the organiser.
Standard fields
The built-in fields — weight, weight division, belt/grade, and club — each use the same simple control: on your tournament's Registration tab, set each to Compulsory, Optional, or Not asked. Date of birth is always compulsory (it works out the age group). Whether you ask for a weight at registration is separate from the weigh-in.

Defining fields
Open your tournament's Registration tab and scroll to Custom fields. Give the field a label, pick a type, and choose how it's collected.

How a field is collected
Compulsory at registration
The competitor must provide it when they register.
Optional at registration
Asked on the registration form, but not required.
Not on the form — a coach or organiser adds it
The competitor never sees it. Their club coach fills it in (and the organiser can too) — this is how competitive aptitude works.
Not on the form — the organiser adds it
Hidden from competitors and coaches; only the organiser sets it, e.g. just before the draw.
Not used for this tournament
Kept in your list but collected nowhere — switch it back on any time.
Field types
Text, long text, number, a dropdown (with your own options), a yes/no checkbox, a date, and a dedicated competitive aptitude type — a 1–5 rating that the matchmaking tools can read directly.
Where values come in
At registration
Competitor-facing fields (compulsory or optional) appear on the public registration form and on the organiser's Add Athlete form. Compulsory fields block submission until they're filled.
From a CSV
When bulk-importing, include a header row and add one column per field — the header must match the field's key. Values are validated the same way as the form.
From a coach or the organiser
Coach- and organiser-only fields (like aptitude) don't appear on any competitor form. Coaches fill them from their club view; the organiser can set them from the athlete's record.
