Plan Types

Recurring, one-time, class packs, and trial memberships.

Ippon System supports different plan types to accommodate various business models and member preferences. Choose the right type for each membership offering.

Recurring Subscriptions

Most Common

Monthly/Yearly Plans

The standard membership model. Members are automatically charged on the same day each billing cycle. Their access continues as long as payments succeed.

Best for:
  • • Regular training members
  • • Predictable monthly revenue
  • • Long-term member relationships
Features:
  • • Auto-renewal
  • • Member self-service plan changes
  • • Pause and resume options

One-Time Payments

Drop-in / Casual

Single class or day access for visitors, guests, or members who prefer pay-as-you-go. No automatic renewal.

Best for:
  • • Visiting judoka from other clubs
  • • Trial classes
  • • Occasional training
Setup:
  • • Set billing interval to "One-time"
  • • Set duration (1 day, 1 week, etc.)
  • • Optionally limit to specific classes

Class Packs

Prepaid Class Credits

Members purchase a bundle of classes upfront (e.g., 10 classes for $200). Each check-in deducts one credit. Great for flexible attendance.

Best for:
  • • Irregular schedules
  • • Seasonal members
  • • Budget-conscious members
Setup options:
  • • 5, 10, or 20 class packs
  • • Optional expiration (e.g., use within 3 months)
  • • Auto-renew when credits run low

Tip: Offer a small discount on larger packs (e.g., 10 classes for the price of 9) to encourage bulk purchases.

Trial Memberships

Free or Discounted Trials

Let new members try before they commit. Trials can be completely free or heavily discounted, then automatically convert to a paid plan.

Common trial offers:
  • • 1 free class
  • • 1 week free trial
  • • First month 50% off
  • • 2 weeks for $29
Setup:
  • • Add trial period to any recurring plan
  • • Set trial duration (days)
  • • Optionally require payment method upfront
  • • Auto-convert to full price after trial

Specialty Plan Types

Seasonal Plans

Fixed-duration memberships that align with school terms or seasons (e.g., "Winter Term: Jan-March"). Members pay upfront and access ends on a specific date.

Competition Passes

Short-term access for competition preparation. Include extra training sessions, strength & conditioning, and sparring opportunities.

Scholarship/Sponsored

Hidden plans for members receiving financial assistance. Set custom pricing (including $0) and track separately for reporting.

Instructor Plans

Free or discounted plans for coaches and staff. Hidden from public view but tracks access and attendance like regular members.

Most clubs see best results with a mix: recurring for core members, class packs for casuals, and trials for new signups.
Class packs pair well with recurring plans. Members on a 2x/week plan can buy extra credits for additional training.
Too many plan types creates confusion. Start simple and add options based on member feedback.
