Setting Up Kiosk Mode

1

Get a dedicated device

Use an iPad, Android tablet, or any computer with a screen. Wall-mount it near your entrance for easy access.

2

Log in as staff

Open Ippon System and log in with any staff account (Coach level or higher).

3

Enable Kiosk Mode

Go to Attendance → Enter Kiosk Mode or click the kiosk icon in the top navigation.

4

Select the location (optional)

If you have multiple locations, select which one this kiosk is for. This ensures members check in to the correct location's classes.

5

Lock the device

Use your tablet's "guided access" or kiosk mode settings to lock the browser to this page and prevent members from accessing other parts of the system.

Kiosk Settings

Check-in Method

  • Name search: Members type their name
  • Member number: Members enter their ID number
  • Card scan: Members scan their membership card (requires reader)
  • PIN: Members enter a personal PIN

Auto-Select Current Class

When enabled, the kiosk automatically selects the class currently in session. Members just check in without choosing a class.

Display Options

Customize the confirmation screen duration, sounds, and whether to show the attendance count.

Timeout

After a period of inactivity, the kiosk returns to the main screen. Default is 30 seconds.

Device Recommendations

iPad

Best option. Use Guided Access to lock to Safari. Wall mount with a secure enclosure. 10.2" or larger recommended.

Android Tablet

Good budget option. Use Screen Pinning or a kiosk launcher app. Samsung tablets work well with Knox kiosk mode.

Windows PC

Works with any touchscreen PC. Use Windows Assigned Access to lock to a single website.

Card Readers

For card-based check-in, use any USB barcode scanner. Members scan their membership card barcode.

Place the kiosk where members naturally pass when entering. Near the shoe rack or changing room entrance works well.
Keep the tablet plugged in at all times. A dead battery means no check-ins.
Use a secure mount and enable device lock. Tablets left unsecured can walk away.
